Caring for Yourself: Lessons on Self-Compassion from Doctor Strange

Once upon a time, in the world of Marvel, Doctor Strange was facing a difficult battle against an evil sorcerer. He was putting his all into it, but he was getting tired and feeling defeated.

Suddenly, he heard a voice next to him saying, “Hey, Strange, you need to take care of yourself too.”

Doctor Strange looked next to him to see who was talking to him. It was Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man.

“I know that you are a powerful sorcerer, but even you need some rest and self-care,” continued Tony.

Doctor Strange looked skeptical and replied, “But how do I do that when the fate of the world is in my hands? I don’t have time for self-care.”

Black Panther, who had also joined the conversation, replied, “But if you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be in a good state of mind to save the world either. Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s necessary for your well-being.”

Doctor Strange thought about it for a moment, then realized that they were right. He was no good to anyone if he wasn’t taking care of himself.

He decided to take a break from the battle and focus on himself, practicing some meditation and taking a nap. After he was done, he returned to the battle feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the challenge ahead of him.

In the end, Doctor Strange was able to defeat the evil sorcerer and save the world.

From this story, we can learn that even superheroes need to take care of themselves. Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. It’s like putting on your oxygen mask first before helping others on an airplane.

We often put others’ needs before our own, but taking care of ourselves is important too. It helps us to be in a better mental and physical state to help others.

Some simple self-care practices include taking short breaks or naps, practicing meditation or yoga, reading a book, or taking a hot bath.

So, remember, just like Doctor Strange and other Marvel superheroes, taking care of ourselves is important, and it’s not selfish. It’s necessary for our well-being, and it helps us to be the best version of ourselves.
